A Plumber specializing in both industrial and residential environments is responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing plumbing systems across a variety of settings—including homes, apartment complexes, factories, plants, and commercial facilities. This role requires versatility, strong technical skills, and knowledge of both standard household plumbing and complex industrial piping systems.

Key ResponsibilitiesResidential Plumbing

  • Install, repair, and maintain water supply lines, drainage systems, fixtures, and appliances (sinks, toilets, water heaters, dishwashers, etc.).
  • Diagnose and resolve common issues including clogs, leaks, low water pressure, and faulty fixtures.
  • Perform routine maintenance to ensure system efficiency and prevent future problems.
  • Install and repair water heaters, both tank and tankless systems.
  • Conduct plumbing inspections and ensure compliance with local building codes.

Industrial Plumbing

  • Install, troubleshoot, and maintain industrial piping systems including high-pressure lines, steam systems, compressed air lines, and process piping.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, piping diagrams, and technical schematics.
  • Perform pipefitting work including cutting, welding, threading, soldering, and assembling a variety of pipe materials (steel, copper, PVC, CPVC, stainless steel).
  • Inspect systems using specialized tools to identify leaks or mechanical issues.
  • Maintain and repair industrial components such as pumps, valves, boilers, pressure regulators, and backflow prevention devices.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, safety protocols, and industrial facility standards.

General Duties (Applicable to Both Settings)

  • Respond to emergency repair calls in residential and industrial environments.
  • Provide detailed documentation of all work performed, including parts used and recommendations.
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and vehicles in clean, safe working condition.
  • Communicate clearly with homeowners, contractors, and facility managers about issues and solutions.
  • Follow all job-site safety procedures and company policies.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent; trade school or technical certification preferred.
  • Proficiency with diagnostic tools, pipe fabrication equipment, and plumbing power tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and mechanical skills with the ability to work independently.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy materials and work in various conditions (tight spaces, heights, hot/cold temperatures).
