Job Summary

Performs specimen collection (as assigned), screening, and confirmatory testing for drugs of abuse and related analytes in accordance with validated methods, chain-of-custody (CoC) requirements, and accreditation standards. Ensures accurate, timely, and legally defensible results for clinical, pre-employment, random, and for-cause testing programs.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Verify identity and eligibility; explain collection procedures and rights.
  2. Collect urine/oral fluid/hair specimens per protocol
  3. Assess specimen integrity
  4. Complete CoC forms, affix tamper-evident seals, and secure evidence lockers/coolers.
  5. Prepare and analyze specimens using approved methods:
  6. Prepare calibrators, controls, standards; run daily QC/blank checks; document non-conformities.
  7. Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot instruments; perform minor repairs and schedule PM with vendors.
  8. Adhere to cutoff thresholds, detection windows, and reflex rules per method validation.
  9. Validate runs (QC rules, linearity, carryover checks); review chromatograms/spectra.
  10. Enter and release results via LIMS; flag critical/invalid/adulterated specimens.
  11. Coordinate with the Medical Review Officer (MRO) for result verification and donor medication queries.
  12. Maintain document control, lot-to-lot checks, equipment logs, and deviation/CAPA records.
  13. Participate in internal audits, proficiency testing, method verification/validation, and risk assessments.
  14. Observe biosafety, chemical hygiene, and waste management standards.
  15. Support clients (HR/occupational health/legal) with TAT updates and result interpretation boundaries.
  16. Conduct on-site collections or trainings as assigned.

Job Qualifications

  1. Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology/Medical Laboratory Science, Chemistry, Pharmacy, or related field.
  2. Relevant professional license/board eligibility as required by jurisdiction.
  3. Training in chain-of-custody, biosafety, and instrument operation; MS-based confirmation training preferred.
  4. Experience in clinical or forensic toxicology an advantage; new grads with strong lab internships considered.
  5. Working knowledge of local regulations (e.g., RA 9165 & implementing rules in the Philippines), data privacy, and accreditation norms.
