Medical Billing Specialist

Position Summary:
Our client is seeking a tenacious and detail-oriented Medical Billing Specialist. The ideal candidate will have experience in mental health and/or substance abuse treatment billing, or revenue cycle management. This role is integral to ensuring accurate billing processes and effective revenue cycle management, contributing to the financial health of our organization.
Job Details:
- Work from Home
- Monday to Friday | 9 AM to 6 PM EST
Responsibilities:
- Bill weekly for assigned facilities through the KIPU EMR system and Collaborate MD.
- Review claims prior to releasing to confirm accuracy for billing rules and carrier requirements.
- Maintain the claims held and on hold admit to discharge billing buckets each week.
- Send corrected claims as requested by the collection specialist each week.
- Work rejections in the CMD system and fix claims so that they arrive at the carrier's clearinghouse.
Qualifications:
- Experience with CollaborateMD billing software (preferred, not required).
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in coding and billing processes.
- Excellent communication skills to interact with healthcare providers, insurance companies, and patients.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Familiar with ICD-10 codes and HCPCS/CPT with revenue codes.
- Understanding of the different bill types and requirements for each carrier.
- Experience with billing US Healthcare through Commercial Insurance companies.
- Understanding of the different claim forms (UB-04 vs HCFA 1500).
