Position Overview:

A Durian Farmer is responsible for cultivating, maintaining, and harvesting durian trees to ensure high-quality fruit production. The role involves soil preparation, tree care, pest and disease management, and post-harvest handling to meet market standards and demand.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain farmland suitable for durian cultivation, including soil conditioning and fertilization.
  • Plant durian seedlings and ensure proper spacing, irrigation, and growth monitoring.
  • Care for durian trees through pruning, weeding, mulching, and fertilizing.
  • Monitor trees for pests, diseases, and nutrient deficiencies; apply treatments or organic alternatives as needed.
  • Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper water supply, especially during flowering and fruiting seasons.
  • Support pollination activities to increase fruit yield.
  • Harvest durian fruits at the right maturity stage, ensuring proper handling to avoid damage.
  • Sort, grade, and prepare durians for market, distribution, or export.
  • Maintain records of planting schedules, fertilizer use, pest control, and harvest yield.
  • Operate and maintain farm tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Follow safety and sustainable farming practices to preserve soil health and productivity.
Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of durian cultivation, including soil requirements, growth stages, and harvesting techniques.
  • Familiarity with pest and disease control specific to durian (e.g., stem borers, root rot, leaf spot).
  • Physical stamina and willingness to work long hours during harvest season.
  • Ability to operate farm equipment and perform manual labor.
  • Experience in fruit farming or agricultural work is an advantage.
  • High school diploma or equivalent (agricultural training preferred).
