Record to Report Team Lead

JOB SUMMARY:
The Record to Report (R2R) Team Lead is responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the R2R team, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting, compliance with company policies, and adherence to service level agreements (SLAs). This role involves leading and guiding team members, optimizing processes, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and quality within the R2R function.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Operational Management
- Allocate work volume and assign tasks to team members to meet priorities and SLAs.
- Monitor team capacity, attendance, and leave schedules; recommend extended hours when necessary.
- Produce routine reports, schedules, and summaries for internal and external stakeholders.
- Support period-end financial closing activities, including judgment-based accruals.
- Ensure compliance with SLAs and performance targets for R2R processes.
- Manage team performance and provide coaching for improvement.
- Identify staffing needs and recommend actions to the Team Manager.
- Maintain updated documentation of client rules and provide guidance on procedural issues.
- Coordinate with HR for training and onboarding of new hires.
- Ensure a conducive work environment with functional tools and clean workspaces.
- Conduct regular team meetings and communicate updates effectively.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Handle customer escalations and attend review calls with OPCOs.
- Prepare and submit MIS reports, batch trackers, reconciliation reports, and project summaries.
- Complete special projects as assigned and support company programs and activities.
2. Leadership & Team Development
- Ensure work quality aligns with predefined processes, timelines, and compliance requirements.
- Motivate, coach, and mentor team members to build skills and encourage self-development.
- Recognize and reward team achievements and contributions.
3. Performance & Service Management
- Assist the R2R Manager in improving general accounting processes through simplification, standardization, and cost optimization.
- Support cost/benefit analysis for process enhancements within the workstream.
4. Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities for quality and efficiency improvements and support implementation efforts across the team.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field, preferably a CPA.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in Record to Report or General Accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead role.
- Strong knowledge of financial closing processes, accounting principles, and compliance requirements.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and MS Office applications.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive process improvements.
