DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Admitting:

  • Receives admission notice from Emergency Room through the patient or relatives.
  • Interviews patient or his representative to obtain identifying information such as patients name, address, age, telephone number and occupation, persons to notify in case of emergency; attending physician; and individual insurance company responsible for payment of hospital bill.
  • Screens financial capability of the patient and give clearance in case the patient is for operation.
  • Estimates the procedure that may be done to the patient.
  • Encodes and print admitting forms and obtains patients or representative's signature.
  • Prepares identification armband for patient.
  • Explains hospital regulations relative to visiting hours, charges and payment of bills.
  • Explains patient rights and responsibilities.
  • Distributes and explains patient's questionnaire to patient or relatives of patient.
  • Explains the necessary benefits such as: PhilHealth, Senior Citizen, Discounts, and other acceptable benefits.
  • Assigns patient to room or ward, based on nature of illness and type of accommodations available or requested.
  • Escorts or arranges to have patient escorted to appropriate room.
  • Routes admitting forms to appropriate department.
  • Maintains index of assigned and vacant beds.
  • Prepares daily census reports of hospital patients.
  • Reports patient to their HMO/Company once admitted in order to verify coverage
  • Receives requests for accommodations and makes necessary pre-admission arrangements.
  • Arranges for transfer of patients to other accommodation.

HMO:

  • Reviews Arranges for transfer of patients to other accommodation.
  • Reviews hospital admitting records of new patients to a certain type of hospital coverage and financing agency.
  • Verifies all the health card of patient relative to the validity and expiration of membership card and the identity of card holder.
  • Records patient identification data consultation forms and obtains signature of patient or responsible party.
  • Swipes the health card and contacts HMO representative for coverage verification and acquire information regarding the extent of agency benefits.
  • Contacts HMO representative for their approval if there is laboratory/diagnostic request.
  • Refers the patient to accredited physician.
  • Informs the patient for reminder of charges not covered by the financing agency.
  • Sorts guarantee letters, LOA, insurance forms and charge slips according to individual payer.
  • Reviews documents for completeness.
  • Verifies accuracy of figures, calculations and postings of hospital charges, payments, discounts, adjustments and account balances with source data.
  • Prepares itemized statement of accounts.
  • Performs other task that maybe assigned by the superior from time to time.

JOB SPECIFICATION

Education:

Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Business Administration or any business-related course with knowledge in computer.

Work Experience: At least six (6) months work related experience.
