Head Nurse

The Head Nurse plans, organizes, and directs all aspects of cancer services and day-to day operations in the Emergency Room while ensuring quality service and work efficiency are maintained to the highest standards. The incumbent provides safe and quality care and assistance to patients and their care providers seeking for emergency care services.

Duties and Responsibilities

A. CLIENT CARE

1. Practices in accordance with the Legal Principles and Code of Ethics in making personal and professional judgment.

1.1. Adheres to the ethico -legal considerations by rendering safe, and quality care in accordance with the institutional policies and procedural guidelines.

1.2. Utilizes ethical reasoning in the decision-making process related to patient care.

1.3. Performs nursing care within the scope of the Philippine Nursing Law and the terms of contract of employment with HCCH.

1.4. Advocates the Patient's Bill of Rights and Obligations by implementing strategies and interventions to protect Client's rights.

1.5. Implements the policy of informed consent by acting as a witness during the process of obtaining the signed consent.

1.6. Demonstrates accountability of care within the scope of nursing practice.

2.Utilizes the nursing process in the interdisciplinary care of clients that empowers the clients and promotes safe quality care.

2.1. Ensures that comprehensive and systematic nursing assessments are done and treatment is administered in accordance to the physician's orders by conducting daily patient rounds.

2.2. Conducts nursing audit by checking the patient's chart through the Hospital Information System.

2.3. Ensures the implementation of the nurses' plan of care to address the healthcare needs of the client utilizing therapeutic strategies and interventions.

2.4. Direct preparation and maintenance of patient's records.

2.5. Evaluates nursing activities to ensure efficiency of service to patients.

2.6 Inspects the nursing care units regularly to ensure a safe environment for the client.

3. Maintains complete, accurate and up to date recording and reporting system.

3.1. Ensures completeness, accuracy, and safety of information of the client's records that conforms with the documentation standards.

3.2. Adheres to the Data privacy Act and institutional policies in safekeeping and releasing client's records.

3.3. Utilizes the Hospital Information System with competence.

4. Establishes collaborative relationships with colleagues and other members of the team to enhance nursing and other health care services.

4.1.Coordinates the care plan in collaboration with the healthcare team by facilitating scheduling of procedures and implementation of care plans.

4.2. Ensures that multi disciplinary team meetings and rounds are done for clients and families.

5. Promotes professional and personal growth and development.

5.1. Demonstrates competence by engaging in lifelong learning and personal development based on the training plan of Nursing Service and HRD.

5.2. Participates and engages in professional activities within the network.

5.3. Complies with regulatory requirements by completing the required Continuing Professional Education.

5.4. Complies with the annual proficiency knowledge and skills examinations.

B. MANAGEMENT

1. Demonstrate management skills to provide safe and quality care

1.1 Supervises and coordinates nursing activities in the nursing units.

1.2. Demonstrates delegation and supervision skills to nursing support staff.

1.3. Allocates staff to different units where needed.

1.4. Creates schedules for staff monthly.

1.5. Resolve staff conflict within the department.

1.6. Resolve and investigate patient complaints in collaboration with Patient Experience.

1.7 Conducts monthly inventory of supplies and equipment.

C. LEADERSHIP

1.1. Participate in the training and orientation of newly hired staff.

1.2. Evaluates staff performance through annual performance reviews and evaluation.

1.3. Performs coaching and mentoring to staff regularly.

1.4. Implements policies and procedures

1.3. Participates in continuous quality improvement and quality assurance projects and activities.

D. RESEARCH

1. Engages in Nursing or health related research with or under the supervision of an experienced researcher.

1.1. Applies evidenced based and best practices to clients at bedside.

1.2.Participates in nursing research conducted within the network as a principal investigator or co investigator .

1. 3 Other ad hoc tasks and projects that may be assigned

Job Specifications/ Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree Nursing
• Passed the Philippine Nurses Licensure Examination
• Preferably with at least nine (9) units of post graduate studies related to nursing management.
• At least two (2) years of work experience at bedside within the network hospitals or 3 years of clinical bedside experience in other institutions.
• Member of accredited Professional Nursing Organization specifically Philippine Nurses Association (PNA), Philippine Oncology Nurse Association (PONA), Association of Nursing Service Administrators of the Philippines (ANSAP).
• Carries an active Basic Life Support and Advanced Cardiac Life Support certification.
• Attended the Basic Oncology Training provided by the institution or PONA.
• Underwent any Leadership and Management Training within the institution or to any accredited association and training program by PRC.

Qualifications

• Graduate of Bachelor of Science in Nursing and holder of an active Philippine PRC License for Registered Nurses.
• MAN/MSN Units / Degree is advantage (at least 9 units)
• Experience as Head Nurse / Supervisory experience is required for this position
• Good communication and coordination skills
• Must have excellent leadership skills
• Willing to work in Arca South, Western Bicutan, Taguig City on a rotating/shifting schedule

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php35, Php40,000.00 per month
