SOX / Internal Audit Specialist

Location: Cebu, Philippines

Key Responsibilities

Delivery

  • Independently deliver or manage SOX engagements across multiple processes/clients.
  • Lead client process discussions, walkthroughs, and prepare process flows, narratives, and risk & control matrices (RCMs).
  • Identify process gaps and provide recommendations aligned with industry practices.
  • Conduct tests of design and operating effectiveness; suggest improvements to strengthen controls.
  • Document testing workpapers as per standards and benchmarks.
  • Support SOX scoping, control rationalization, and standardization initiatives.
  • Monitor project progress, manage multiple assignments, ensure quality and timely delivery.
  • Provide regular status updates to the Manager.
  • Apply a solution-based approach to client problem-solving.

Client Management

  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with clients and onshore teams.
  • Ensure proactive and professional communication.
  • Mentor and coach junior team members to support their career development.

Market Leadership

  • Support business development initiatives.
  • Contribute to innovation initiatives (Robotics, AI, Advanced Analytics).
  • Assist in developing thought leadership content and practice improvements.

Operational Excellence

  • Suggest ideas to improve engagement productivity and client service.
  • Manage budgets and ensure compliance with quality and risk procedures.

People Development

  • Promote teamwork, leadership, and innovation.
  • Conduct workshops and technical training sessions.
  • Support learning, development, and knowledge-sharing initiatives.

Skills and Attributes

  • Exceptional command of spoken and written English.
  • Flexible and globally mobile for potential onsite opportunities.
  • Strong analytical, organized, and detail-oriented consulting skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, or related field.
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and data analysis.
  • Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to prioritize effectively and deliver results.

Qualifications

  • 1–10 years of experience in Big 4, professional services, or industry roles focusing on SOX/internal controls.
  • CPA certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting (mandatory).
  • Demonstrated ability to innovate and think differently.

Preferred Experience

  • Leading performance management and appraisals for direct reports.
  • Proven track record in mentoring and coaching junior team members.
