Job Qualifications

  • Must be a Registered Medical Technologist (with valid PRC License)
  • With or without experience
  • Completed internship at accredited hospital
  • Preferably with training in laboratory techniques with a certificate for courses offered for medical technologists, or trained in the techniques to be performed

Job Description

  • Prepares laboratory equipment and apparatus such as glassware, centrifuge, microscope, including chemicals, solutions, reagents and stains, following standard laboratory formulas and procedures.
  • Does extraction of specimen, e.g., blood, fluid discharges, throat swab, etc. from patients
  • Receives and obtain specimen (for both out-patient and in-patient) for laboratory analysis; undertakes home visits for the purpose as needed; prepares specimen for examination.
  • Examines and analyzes body fluids, tissues and cells to look for bacteria, parasites, and other microorganisms; analyzes content of fluids; matches blood for transfusion; tests for drug levels in the blood to determine how patient is responding to treatment.
  • Performs various standard and specialized laboratory tests in the field of Bacteriology, Parasitology, Hematology, Serology, Histopathology, Microscopy, Immuno- chemistry, and Chemistry, through the operation of all types of applicable laboratory equipment.
  • Records and releases results of laboratory tests undertaken for study of pathologists or other laboratory supervisors; validates results as requested.
  • Encodes charges on the computer to serve as basis for payment for services rendered to patients.
