Overview

The Data Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining data systems that enable efficient data collection, storage, and processing across multiple platforms. This role focuses on developing scalable and secure data pipelines, automating data workflows, and ensuring the integrity and accessibility of data to support business insights and analytics.

Key Responsibilities

Data System Optimization and Automation

  • Optimize data solution performance and ensure efficient data flow between internal and external systems and the data warehouse.
  • Develop and maintain tools to enhance data collection, processing, and reporting efficiency.
  • Automate data ingestion, transformation, and reporting processes to improve overall system productivity.
  • Test and validate data system configurations to maximize performance and reliability.
  • Assist in integrating data systems with existing IT infrastructure.

Business and Technical Requirements Analysis

  • Identify business requirements and translate them into technical data solutions.
  • Determine appropriate data structures and models to ensure data availability, accessibility, and scalability.
  • Stay current with emerging technologies, tools, and best practices in data engineering and database management.

Data Pipeline Development and Maintenance

  • Design, build, and maintain scalable ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) pipelines for batch and real-time data processing.
  • Develop scripts and codes to process structured and unstructured data from diverse data sources.
  • Consolidate and develop data storage solutions for optimized retrieval and archiving.
  • Monitor, test, and troubleshoot data pipelines for scalability, reliability, and performance.
  • Implement data backup, archiving, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure system continuity.
  • Ensure data security, privacy, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
  • Develop prototypes and proof-of-concept solutions to test new data approaches or technologies.

Qualifications

Experience

  • 1–3 years of experience in data engineering, data systems development, or related roles.
  • Hands-on experience in designing and maintaining data solutions that handle both batch and real-time data processing.
  • Proficiency in database management, scripting, and programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, Java, Scala, or similar).
  • Familiarity with cloud-based data platforms, ETL tools, and visualization technologies.
  • Strong analytical mindset with a passion for data and problem-solving.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Engineering, or related field.
