About The Role
As a Specialist GBS Controls Testing, you will play a pivotal role in strengthening operational reliability across our Service Delivery Lines. By designing fit-for-purpose Positive Assurance test plans and executing high-quality control validations, you'll help ensure that our processes are not only compliant -- but consistently excellent. Your work will drive standardisation, uncover opportunities for automation, and deliver assurance that empowers teams to perform at their best.

Reporting to the Manager, GBS Governance & Stewardship, you'll be a key contributor to our mission of embedding quality, consistency, and confidence in how GBS operates.

Positive Assurance Testing

  • Lead the delivery of robust and insightful Positive Assurance Testing aligned with our GBS Framework.
  • Conduct process walkthroughs to understand control activities and assess alignment with design standards.
  • Develop smart, targeted test plans that reflect control objectives and key attributes.
  • Execute control validations to assess design adequacy and operating effectiveness.
  • Partner with the Principal Control Governance and Service Delivery teams to calibrate findings and drive meaningful conversations.
  • Monitor remediation plans and support teams in implementing sustainable improvements.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance control execution and embed continuous improvement.
  • Draft and deliver impactful Controls Reports that tell the story behind the data.
  • Review and refine test plans to unlock automation and boost efficiency.
  • Support problem-solving routines for areas with low pass rates.
  • Stay ahead of trends in assurance and controls testing -- bringing fresh ideas to the table.

Risk Management Advocate

  • Apply and improve the application of the BHP Risk Management Framework and GBS Positive Assurance Playbook
  • Drive continuous improvement by analysing control environments, learning from past experiences, and identifying emerging risks.

Trusted Partner & Contributor

  • Report progress, risks, and opportunities to the Manager GBS Governance & Stewardship.
  • Engage and collaborate with a diverse set of stakeholders across GBS and external stakeholders.
  • Apply an understanding of the business context, BHP operating model and ways of working to enhance decision making, productivity and value chain performance.

About You
You're a curious, analytical, and collaborative professional who thrives in a fast-paced environment. You bring a passion for controls, a sharp eye for detail, and a drive to make things better.

You'll Bring

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Information Systems, or related field.
  • 5+ years' experience in Internal / External Audit, and risk and control governance.
  • Strong knowledge of control testing methodologies and risk management frameworks.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with BHP's end-to-end processes (as applicable to role).
  • Experience in data analytics, automation, and visualisation tools (e.g. SQL, PowerBI, etc).
