Job Summary:

The Branch Officer is responsible for managing day-to-day operations at a non-life insurance branch, ensuring efficient customer service, business development, claims coordination, and compliance with regulatory standards. The role requires coordination with underwriters, agents/brokers, policyholders, and internal teams to achieve branch targets and maintain service excellence.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Policy Administration & Underwriting Support

  • Assist in processing new insurance policies, renewals, and endorsements.
  • Review proposal forms and coordinate with underwriters for approval.
  • Ensure timely issuance and delivery of policy documents.

2. Sales & Business Development

  • Support the branch in achieving sales targets for general insurance products (motor, health, fire, marine, travel, liability, etc.).
  • Coordinate with agents, brokers, and corporate clients to generate business.
  • Participate in marketing campaigns and awareness activities.

3. Customer Service

  • Address walk-in and telephonic customer queries and complaints.
  • Assist policyholders with claim intimation, documentation, and status updates.
  • Ensure high levels of customer satisfaction and service delivery.

4. Claims Coordination

  • Receive and verify claim documents before forwarding them to the claims department.
  • Follow up on pending claims with internal teams and keep customers updated.
  • Support surveyors and assessors during claim processing.

5. Operational & Branch Support

  • Maintain accurate records of policies, endorsements, and claims.
  • Handle cash/cheque collection and deposit-related activities.
  • Manage office inventory and ensure a smooth administrative workflow.

6. Compliance & Reporting

  • Ensure adherence to company policies and IRDAI regulations.
  • Maintain proper documentation and records for audit purposes.
  • Prepare and submit daily, weekly, and monthly reports to the branch manager.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in any discipline (preferably in business, finance, or insurance).
  • Minimum 1–3 years of experience in insurance operations, sales, or customer service.
  • Knowledge of general insurance products and industry regulations is preferred.
  • Familiarity with IRDAI guidelines and basic underwriting/claims processes
