Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer

The primary purpose of the
Senior Red Hat Systems Engineer
is to ensure the timely execution of services delivery, on aspects of professional, support & managed services, and ensure operational stability, and continuous optimization of Red Hat-centric cloud solutions across its lifecycle.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Professional Services:

• Translate architectural designs and project plans into detailed services delivery procedures and execute as per Scope of Work (SOW)
• Lead the hands-on deployment, configuration, and integration of Red Hat technologies, including Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenStack, Red Hat Enterprise Linux, Ansible Automation
• Platform, and related cloud-native solutions, in client environments (on-premises, hybrid, multi-cloud).
• Perform system migrations, upgrades, and patching activities for Red Hat-based infrastructures.
• Conduct technical assessments and provide insights for future architectural enhancements.
• Provide expert technical guidance and recommendations to clients on Red Hat best practices for security, performance, scalability, and operational efficiency.
• Create comprehensive technical documentation, including Method of Procedure (MOP), as built, Customer Requirement Document (CRD), etc.
• Continuous Improvement: Provide valuable feedback to product and engineering teams on the real-world performance and challenges of Red Hat products, contributing directly to rationalization efforts and service improvement.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Solutions Architects to validate designs, provide feedback from implementation experiences and assist sales teams with technical deprives and demonstrations.

2. Support & Managed Services:

• Administer, operate, monitor, maintain or troubleshoot Red Hat deployments as per SLA.
• Perform proactive monitoring, health checks, and routine maintenance tasks for managed Red Hat environments to ensure optimal performance, availability, and security.
• Guide clients in optimizing their Red Hat infrastructure and application deployments.
• Diagnose and resolve performance bottlenecks, system failures, and security vulnerabilities within Red Hat environments.
• Provide advanced technical troubleshooting and problem resolution for complex Red Hat-related issues, acting as an escalation point for critical incidents.
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to identify root causes and implement permanent solutions.
• Implement automation scripts and tools (e.g., Ansible) for routine operational tasks and infrastructure as code (IaC) management.
• Ensure compliance with client SLAs and Trends' operational standards.
• Create & present comprehensive reports (status, issue, incident, RCA, etc.)

3. Technical Expertise:

Stay updated with the latest technologies and industry trends and maintain a deep understanding of different cloud platforms & industry trends, and implement & manage complex solutions that are scalable, secure, and cost-effective cloud infrastructures.

• Ensure the security and compliance of cloud solutions.
• Stay up to date with the latest technologies and best practices.
• Develop and maintain delivery documentation & artifacts.
• Participate in on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for cloud systems.

4. Mentorship & Knowledge Transfer:

Provide technical mentorship to junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence within the team

5. Process Improvement:

Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve efficiency within the Cloud Technology Group and company.

6. Talent Acquisition and Development:

Assist in recruitment and development of talent, ensuring the team has the skills, knowledge, experience and certification needed to succeed.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical field.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in IT architecture, with at least 3 years focused on implementing solutions leveraging Red Hat technologies.
• Mandatory: Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification.
• Highly Desired: Certification on OpenShift, OpenStack, Ansible Automation, or other relevant Red Hat Specialist certifications.
• Demonstrable expertise in Linux system administration, particularly Red Hat Enterprise Linux.
• Proven experience in deploying, managing, and troubleshooting container platforms (Kubernetes, OpenShift).
• Strong practical experience with automation tools (Ansible, Puppet, Chef) and scripting (Bash, Python).
• Experience with virtualization technologies (OpenStack, KVM) and public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
• Solid understanding of enterprise networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls) and storage solutions.
• Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies and tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Argo CD).
