Job Description:

The MEPF Engineer is responsible for the design, coordination, implementation, and supervision of mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection systems in building and infrastructure projects. This role ensures that all systems are designed and executed efficiently, meet regulatory codes, and integrate seamlessly with architectural and structural components.

Key Responsibilities:

Mechanical:

  • Design HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems based on project

requirements, load calculations, and energy efficiency standards.

  • Select appropriate equipment (chillers, AHUs, FCUs, ductwork) and layout distribution systems.
  • Conduct thermal load calculations and ventilation analysis.

Plumbing:

  • Design cold/hot water supply systems, drainage, sanitary systems, rainwater harvesting, and water treatment systems.
  • Specify pipe sizes, materials, pumps, valves, and other components.
  • Ensure compliance with local plumbing codes and standards.

Fire Protection:

  • Design fire suppression systems (e.g., sprinkler systems, fire hose reels, extinguishers, fire pumps).
  • Prepare fire alarm layouts and integrate systems with other building safety systems.
  • Ensure designs meet NFPA standards or local fire safety regulations.

General:

  • Prepare and review detailed technical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
  • Coordinate MEPF services with architects, civil/structural engineers, and other disciplines.
  • Perform site inspections, commissioning, and testing of MEPF systems.
  • Support the procurement process by preparing BOQs and reviewing supplier/vendor submittals.
  • Participate in design review meetings and resolve technical issues on-site.

Qualifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Professional license or registration (e.g., Licensed Mechanical Engineer, RME) is an advantage.

Experience:

  • 2–7+ years of relevant experience in mechanical, plumbing, and fire protection design and construction.
  • Experience with medium to large-scale commercial, residential, or industrial projects.

Technical Skills:

  • Proficient in AutoCAD, Revit MEP, and other MEP design tools.
  • Knowledge of HVAC design software (e.g., HAP, Trace 700), pipe sizing, and hydraulic calculation tools.
  • Familiar with building codes and standards (e.g., ASHRAE, NFPA, IPC, UPC, SMACNA).
  • Experience with BIM coordination is a strong advantage.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to work in cross-functional teams and under tight schedules.
  • Problem-solving mindset and ability to handle on-site challenges.

Preferred/Additional Qualifications:

  • Certification in Fire Protection Design (e.g., NFPA training).
  • LEED accreditation or knowledge of sustainable building practices.
  • Familiarity with local regulations (e.g., NBC, PEC, or local building/fire codes depending on region).
  • Experience working with contractors or in design-build environments.
  • Willing to be assigned to the Iloilo project.
