As a Senior Solution Specialist – Mill Liners, you will play a critical and strategic role in driving commercial success and delivering technically optimized, high-performance mill liner solutions. Your deep technical expertise, leadership in solution design, and strong client relationship capabilities will directly contribute to FLSs growth and innovation in the mill consumables market.

You will work across multiple functions – sales, engineering, manufacturing, and product line management – to lead major customer engagements, high-impact proposals, and solution development processes. This position requires advanced industry knowledge, strong stakeholder influence, and the ability to translate customer challenges into tangible results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development and execution of high-value, technically complex proposals for mill liner solutions across strategic accounts in the region.

  • Act as the regional subject matter expert (SME) for mill liner systems, materials, and performance optimization.

  • Influence commercial strategies by providing data-backed insights, cost-performance analysis, and customer-specific recommendations.

  • Directly support key account managers and the regional commercial team with technical and business input in critical negotiations.

  • Oversee and validate liner design simulations, performance projections, and product selection to maximize mill throughput and wear life.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives by analysing field data, failure modes, and customer feedback to improve liner design and operational strategies.

  • Serve as a technical mentor for junior solution specialists and proposal engineers within the team.

  • Represent FLSmidth in strategic customer meetings, industry events, and technical forums.

  • Ensure full alignment with FLSmidths global standards, safety protocols, and sustainability goals.

  • Manage multiple concurrent projects, proposals, and urgent customer requests in a time-sensitive, high-paced environment.

  • Senior-Level Performance Indicators (KPIs):

  • Proposal win rate on high-value tenders and strategic accounts

  • Mill liner performance KPIs post-installation (wear life, throughput improvement, downtime reduction)

  • Customer satisfaction and retention in key accounts

  • Technical leadership and mentoring contributions

  • Response time and accuracy in high-priority proposals

  • Strategic alignment with product line and revenue growth goals

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Degree in mechanical, Mining, Metallurgical, Industrial Engineering or equivalent. MBA desirable.

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in mining equipment, ideally with a focus on mill liners, grinding mills, or wear solutions.

  • Proven experience working directly with tier 1 mining clients on solution-based technical sales.

  • Advanced understanding of liner design, material selection, and grinding process optimization.

  • Experience with 3D modelling, wear simulations (e.g., DEM), and performance forecasting tools.

  • Strong commercial background: pricing, costing, proposal development, and contract negotiation.

  • High-level experience using SAP, CRM tools (Salesforce), and engineering platforms (SolidWorks, AutoCAD).

  • Fluent in Spanish and English, both written and spoken desirable.

  • Willingness to travel across Chile and LATAM for client meetings, audits, and project reviews.

Technical Expertise:

  • Deep technical knowledge of mill liner mechanics, metallurgy, and grinding circuit performance

  • Simulation-based analysis and problem solving (wear patterns, flow dynamics)

  • Advanced Excel, Power BI (for commercial analysis), and reporting tools

  • Proposal development intime-critical and cost-sensitive environments
