Financial Crime Investigator

Role Overview:
UD is seeking a highly motivated Financial Crime Investigator to join our team in combating financial crime within the digital banking space.
The ideal candidate must demonstrate a willingness to understand and apply the bank's fraud detection and prevention programs while conducting end-to-end investigations, from initial detection to resolution. We are looking for proactive, self-driven individuals capable of managing cases independently and delivering results within defined timelines. Roles and Responsibilities:
- Defend and protect UD from detected fraudulent transactions.
- 24/7 monitoring of accounts of UD customers for fraudulent activities and resolving issues by holding/freezing accounts during investigation.
- Conduct high level investigations while maintaining chain of custody, to the standard that is appropriate for legal action.
- Liaise professionally with affected customers during fraudulent/investigation cases.
- Complete investigations in a timely manner.
- Develop new methodologies and/or ways of thinking to refine the investigation process of the Financial Crime Operations at UD.
- During their shift, acts as the POC for UD Financial Crime Operations partners and should immediately report any glitches/points of failure.
- Work with the FCO Intelligence and Analytics Head regarding any fraudulent trends detected.
- Prepare a detailed narrative for fraud cases that is suitable for STR/CTR filling.
- Conduct the initial review and analysis of Fraud Control Assessment forms.
Qualifications:
- 1 to 5 years of relevant experience in Financial Crime, Fraud Investigation, Risk Management, or Operations, preferably within banking, digital payments, fintech, e-wallets, or payment services.
- Strong understanding of anti-financial crime principles, fraud typologies, and regulatory requirements.
- Proven experience in investigating fraud incidents, particularly involving digital payments, credit/debit cards, and e-commerce transactions.
- Proficient in using fraud detection and case management tools such as LexisNexis ThreatMetrix, NICE Actimize, Visa Risk Manager, Falcon and similar platforms.
- Familiarity with card transaction flows, chargebacks, 3DS authentication, acquiring/issuing processes, and card network rules (Visa, Mastercard, etc.).
- Proficiency in card fraud schemes
- Skilled in preparing detailed investigative reports and documentation for internal and external stakeholders, including regulatory submissions (e.g., STRs, CTRs).
- Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret fraud trends and transactional data to support investigations and proactive fraud prevention efforts.
- Comfortable working with dashboards, spreadsheets, and analytics tools to support decision-making and reporting.
- Professional certifications such as CFE (Certified Fraud Examiner), CPA, or ACAMS are highly desirable and considered an advantage.
