  1. Acknowledges request in the system, receives and process radiographic request; Checks and reviews the charges (only when the clerk is not on duty)

  2. Accurately interprets a physician's request (for OPD doctor's request form on paper, for IPD through the system and patients chart)

  3. Reviews medical record for patient history and pertinent information

  4. Performs routine and special diagnostic radiographic procedures, transfer patient to X-ray room, explain procedure and position according to protocol.

  5. Communicates effectively and empathetically with patients or relatives of patients prior to, during and after an examination.

  6. Operates X-ray equipment and other equipment/devices such as appropriate: (CT-Scan/ mammography machine)
  7. Selects proper technique and calculates exposure factor to obtain optimal data
  8. Provides privacy, dignity and comfort of the patient by thoroughly explaining the examination, patient positioning and implementing proper draping techniques.

  9. Practices aseptic technique as necessary.

  10. Works accurately and maintain high standard of radiography; keep patient waiting time to a minimum in order to comply with standards of quality.

  11. Assists in the administration of contrast material according to physician's request; recognizes and respond to hypersensitivity or allergic reaction.

  12. Evaluates radiographs for technical quality; notes any problems which were not part of initial examination then alert the Radiologist.

  13. Organizes daily work in the Radiology Reception area:

  14. Schedules patient due for the procedure.

  15. Encodes and sorts results.

  16. Forwards results to their respective wards; and files films, CD's and results (provided when the clerk is not on duty)

  17. Performs minor maintenance procedures on machines used.

  18. Participates in Quality Assurance programs as appropriate.

  19. Maintains patient confidence and protects the hospital by keeping information confidential.

  20. Ensures that all legal requirements are complied.
