The Indigenous Peoples (IP) Governance Associate will provide a direct support in strengthening Indigenous governance structures and facilitating rights-based, culturally rooted engagement within ancestral domain areas covered by CCDI's Nature-based Solutions Project. The role involves supporting Indigenous Political Structures, ensuring proper documentation of customary systems, and assisting in capacity-building programs aimed at institutionalizing good governance practices aligned with both Indigenous traditions and national legal frameworks.
Qualifications:
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Studies, Community Development, Anthropology, Political Science, or related fields;
- At least 2 years of experience working directly with Indigenous Peoples or ancestral domain governance structure.

- Customary Governance and Legal Interface;
- Culturally Sensitive Facilitation;
- Ancestral Domain Institutional Strengthening;
- Stakeholder Coordination and Multi-sector Engagement.
Responsibilities:
- Support IPS and IPOs in developing community charters, local development frameworks, and customary governance protocols;
- Coordinate with NCIP, LGUs, and other relevant agencies to ensure Indigenous governance activities are aligned with legal mandates (e.g., IPRA, FPIC);
- Ensure meaningful participation of elders, women, and youth in governance consultations and project activities;
- Collect, organize, and file documentation related to IPS decisions, resolutions, and traditional governance practices;
- Contribute to the preparation of governance-related reports, case studies, and validation records for internal and external reporting;
- Assist in organizing and facilitating trainings or learning sessions related to Indigenous leadership, paralegal education, community representation, and rights awareness;
- Monitor community-level disputes and assist in documenting traditional conflict resolution mechanisms.
