We are an Australian tax and accounting practice specialising in compliance, bookkeeping, and advisory services for small businesses and professional clients. Our firm works extensively with Xero and QuickBooks Online, and we place strong emphasis on ATO compliance, accuracy, and timely reporting.

We are seeking a detail-oriented, intermediate-level bookkeeper with a minimum of 3 years' relevant experience to join our team on a part-time remote basis (20 hours per week).


Key Responsibilities
  • Perform day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including bank reconciliations, accounts payable/receivable, and journal entries.
  • Prepare and maintain general ledgers and trial balances in Xero and QuickBooks Online.
  • Process payroll and superannuation contributions in line with Australian payroll compliance.
  • Assist in preparing BAS, IAS, and GST reconciliations for submission to the ATO (under supervision).
  • Support the preparation of year-end working papers for tax and compliance purposes.
  • Liaise with the principal accountant to ensure deadlines are met and client files remain up to date.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to Australian accounting and compliance standards.

Key Requirements
  • Minimum 3 years' bookkeeping/accounting experience (intermediate level).
  • Hands-on experience with Xero and QuickBooks Online (must be confident working independently).
  • Strong understanding of Australian bookkeeping and compliance requirements (GST, BAS, payroll, superannuation).
  • Familiarity with ATO reporting standards and deadlines.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and spoken).
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong internet connection and availability for 20 hours per week (flexible schedule, but some overlap with Australian business hours preferred).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience working with Australian accounting firms.
  • Knowledge of cloud document management and workflow tools (e.g. Karbon, XPM, Hubdoc, Dext, or similar).
  • Cert IV in Accounting/Bookkeeping or equivalent qualification (preferred, not essential).
