About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive Information Security Specialist with consulting experience to join our team. This role is critical in ensuring the security of our infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments while adhering to industry best practices and compliance standards. The Information Security Specialist will safeguard our cloud-based platforms along with providing security consulting to the business.

Cloud Security:

  • Manage security controls for cloud environments (e.g., AWS, Azure).
  • Monitor and protect cloud workloads, including storage, compute, and networking resources, from unauthorised access and threats.
  • Manage Identity and Access Management (IAM) policies in cloud platforms.

Security Infrastructure & Tools:

  • Assist in management of security tools such as vulnerability scanners, endpoint protection tools, email security, DLP, Web Security gateways and Zero Trust Remote Access solutions.
  • Assist with review and optimisation of firewalls, IDS/IPS, and other security appliances.

Security Consulting:

  • Provide Security Guidance – Advise internal teams and stakeholders on best security practices, ensuring alignment with industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation – Conduct security assessments of infrastructure, applications, and cloud environments, identifying vulnerabilities and recommending effective mitigation strategies.
  • Security Solution Design – Collaborate with IT and business teams to design and implement security controls, ensuring solutions align with business objectives while maintaining a strong security posture.

Incident Response & Monitoring:

  • Respond to and mitigate security incidents, conducting root cause analysis and forensic investigations.
  • Implement and fine-tune monitoring systems for detecting and analysing security threats in cloud environments.

Compliance and Regulatory Frameworks:

  • Ensure alignment with security frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, NIST, SOC 2)
  • Document and maintain policies and procedures related to security and compliance.

Qualifications Required

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Relevant certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, AWS Certified Security, or Microsoft Certified: Security Engineer Associate are a plus.

Experience:

  • 3-5 years of experience in cybersecurity, with a focus on cloud and application security.
  • Ability to conduct security risk assessments and advise on procedural security controls
  • Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Office 365 suite) and their security services.
  • Knowledge of securing applications and APIs, including SAST, DAST, and WAF solutions.
  • Good understanding of information security principles and objectives.

Skills:

  • Good understanding of ISO27001 and NIST frameworks.
  • Knowledge of cloud and application security principles and frameworks.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication skills
