Information Security Specialist

The ideal candidate for this Information Security Specialist role will oversee the development and implementation of an organization's information security strategy. This involves ensuring that digital assets are effectively protected through security policies, procedures, and controls that align with regulatory requirements.

This strategic role requires close collaboration with IT, compliance, and business units to manage risks, respond to incidents, and promote a culture of security awareness. Key responsibilities include:

  • Developing, implementing, and maintaining security policies, standards, and procedures that align with business objectives and regulatory requirements;
  • Conducting regular risk assessments and vulnerability scans to identify potential threats;
  • Maintaining and updating the enterprise risk register to ensure timely remediation plans;
  • Overseeing user access controls and privilege management to prevent unauthorized access;
  • Ensuring proper implementation of multi-factor authentication (MFA) and role-based access control measures;
  • Developing and delivering security awareness programs for employees to promote best practices and ongoing education on emerging threats;
  • Providing security oversight for IT and business projects, including reviewing third-party vendor contracts and solutions for security compliance.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in this challenging role, candidates must possess:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Information Security, Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related field;
  • Preferred: Master's Degree or postgraduate coursework in cybersecurity, risk management, or IT governance;
  • Strong understanding of security frameworks (ISO 27001, NIST, COBIT);
  • Experience with security operations tools and incident response;
  • Knowledge of cloud security (Azure, AWS, M365);
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; and
  • Ability to manage cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders.
