Applications Programmer

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Develop high-quality, scalable web applications using PHP and associated frameworks especially CodeIgniter, maintain and optimize existing applications for performance, scalability, and security, mentor and support peer developers, fostering a culture of learning and knowledge sharing within the team.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Write efficient, maintainable, and reliable code.
• Maintain legacy code and provide innovation in improving the legacy codes.
• Review and optimize existing code for performance and scalability.
• Provide estimates in development tasks and responsibilities.
• Perform Developer Integration Testing (DIT) after code development.
• Identify and troubleshoot complex technical issues.
• Conduct code reviews to ensure code quality and conformity to best practices.
• Provide constructive feedback to junior programmers.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies and suggest process improvements.
• Work closely with scrum master to define project requirements and scope.
• Recommend and implement new tools, technologies, and processes to enhance productivity.
• Encourage best practices in coding, testing, and development workflows.
• Oversee the deployment of applications to production environments.
• Resolve any bugs found during testing.
• Proactive in making sure to deliver high quality applications

COMPETENCIES:

• Strong understanding of PHP language syntax, features, and best practices.
• Experience with popular PHP frameworks, such as Laravel or CodeIgniter.
• Proficient in SQL and experience with MySQL (or other relational databases).
• Understanding database design and optimization techniques.
• Familiarity with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and front-end frameworks.
• Experience with unit testing, integration testing, and debugging tools.
• Ability to write testable code and create test cases.
• Strong analytical thinking and the ability to troubleshoot issues effectively.
• Ability to work in a team, communicate effectively, and collaborate with stakeholders, including designers and project managers.
• Mentor junior programmers and share knowledge within the team.
• Ability to learn new technologies and adapt to changing environments and requirements.
• Basic understanding of project management principles and tools (e.g., JIRA, Trello) to track project progress.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and keeping up to date with industry trends.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree graduate in Information Technology, Computer Science, or any IT related courses.
• At least 3 years of experience as a Software Developer or Software Engineer using PHP.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks and priorities.
• Experience in Agile/Scrum development methodologies.
• Excellent technical knowledge of web applications development using PHP/MySQL with CodeIgniter Framework.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: Php40, Php50,000.00 per month
