Job Description

a key member of the engine department on a ship, directly assisting the Chief Engineer. They are responsible for the daily operation and maintenance of the engine room and its machinery, including the main engines, auxiliary equipment, and safety systems. The 2nd Engineer also plays a crucial role in supervising the engine room crew and ensuring all operations are conducted safely and efficiently.

Skills and Qualifications:

The second engineer is usually in charge of preparing the engine room for arrival, departure, or standby and oversees major overhauls on critical equipment.
