Supervision and Leadership:
Supervise and lead a team of stewards (kitchen cleaning staff) ensuring they perform duties as per company standards and policies.
Assign daily tasks to the stewarding team and ensure all tasks are completed within the given time frame.
Conduct sessions for new employees on cleaning standards, safety procedures, and equipment handling.
Provide guidance and support to the stewarding team to improve performance and develop skills.
Conduct performance evaluations for the team and provide constructive feedback.
Sanitation and Cleanliness:
Ensure cleanliness and sanitation standards are maintained in all kitchen areas, including dishwashing areas, storage, and food preparation zones.
Oversee the washing and proper storage of dishes, utensils, glassware, and other kitchen tools.
Ensure cleanliness and maintenance of kitchen floors, walls, ventilation, and equipment.
Enforce compliance with health and safety standards as required by (Sanitation Code of the Philippines).
Ensure that all cleaning materials and supplies are stored safely and used correctly.
Job Summary:
The Steward Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the cleaning, maintenance, and organization of the kitchen and back-of-house areas in a hospitality or food service establishment. This includes supervising the stewarding team, ensuring compliance with sanitation standards, and managing the inventory of cleaning supplies and equipment. The role also includes supporting the overall safety, cleanliness, and efficiency of the kitchen operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Inventory and Equipment Management:
- Monitor and manage the inventory of cleaning supplies and kitchen equipment to ensure stock levels are sufficient.
- Report the need for reordering supplies and ensure timely procurement.
- Oversee the care, maintenance, and proper storage of kitchen equipment and utensils to extend their lifespan.
- Report any damage or malfunctioning equipment to the relevant department for repairs or replacement.
Health, Safety, and Compliance:
- Ensure all health, safety, and sanitation regulations are adhered to, including waste management, chemical storage, and food safety protocols.
- Conduct regular checks to ensure that proper cleaning procedures are being followed.
- Ensure proper disposal of waste and manage recycling processes where applicable.
- Enforce and promote a safe working environment, addressing any hazards promptly.
Team Coordination and Scheduling:
- Create and manage steward shift schedules to ensure adequate staffing during peak hours and special events.
- Monitor team attendance and manage leaves and absences.
- Coordinate with the kitchen and other departments to ensure smooth and efficient operations.
Communication and Reporting:
- Maintain open lines of communication with Operations Director, Kitchen Managers, Chefs, and other departments regarding the needs and performance of the stewarding team.
- Prepare daily or weekly reports on the team's performance, inventory levels, and sanitation compliance.
- Attend team meetings and provide updates on cleaning and equipment needs.
Qualifications:
- Education: High School diploma or equivalent; vocational courses in culinary, hotel and restaurant management, or similar fields preferred.
- Experience: At least 3-5 years of experience in a stewarding or kitchen-related position, with some supervisory experience.
Skills and Knowledge:
- Familiarity with cleaning chemicals and equipment used in the kitchen and dining areas.
- Ability to lead, manage, and motivate a team.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Good communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to stand for long periods and perform physical tasks such as lifting and bending.
- Capable of lifting and carrying heavy items.
- Ability to work in hot, noisy, and sometimes hazardous environments (with proper safety precautions in place).
Working Conditions:
- Typically works in back-of-house areas, including kitchens, dishwashing stations, and storage areas.
- Flexibility to work during evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- The role may require handling cleaning chemicals and operating industrial-grade dishwashers and cleaning equipment.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Php20, Php30,000.00 per month
