Key Responsibilities

  • Blueprint Interpretation: Reading and understanding blueprints, drawings, and specifications to determine the correct layout and procedures.
  • Equipment Setup: Selecting and setting up appropriate welding equipment and materials for the job.
  • Welding and Assembly: Joining metal parts using heat and tools to create strong, durable bonds, often working in various positions.
  • Quality Control: Inspecting completed welds and structures to ensure strength, precision, and the absence of flaws.
  • Maintenance: Maintaining and cleaning welding equipment and the work area.
  • Cutting and Preparation: Using torches and other tools to cut metal pieces to size and shape, and preparing surfaces for welding.
  • Safety Compliance: Following all safety regulations, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintaining a safe work environment.

Skills and Qualifications

  • Proficiency in reading blueprints and technical specifications.
  • Expertise with various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, stick welding).
  • Ability to operate and maintain a range of welding and hand tools.
  • Knowledge of different metal types and the best practices for joining them.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols for working with high heat and heavy materials.
  • Physical stamina to work in various positions and potentially in challenging environments.
