Data Engineer

JOB SUMMARY

Epic Staffing Group is seeking a Data Engineer to design, build, and optimize modern data architecture on Microsoft Fabric. This role will leverage expertise in SQL, Python, API integrations, and cloud-based data infrastructure to deliver scalable, automated, and reliable solutions that enhance reporting, improve data accessibility, and support enterprise-wide decision-making.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, develop, and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines in Microsoft Fabric Data Factory for enterprise data integration.
• Build and optimize Lakehouse and Warehouse models to support business intelligence and analytics.
• Develop Python scripts for advanced data transformation, automation, and API integrations.
• Build and manage API connections with external systems, applications, and third-party services.
• Ensure data governance, quality, and security within OneLake and across the Fabric environment.
• Collaborate with analysts to deliver optimized semantic models for Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Automate workflows and enhance data orchestration using Fabric pipelines and monitoring tools.
• Troubleshoot and resolve data integration and quality issues.
• Research and apply best practices for performance tuning, scalability, and cost optimization.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

• 2–5 years of experience in data engineering or cloud data platform development.
• Strong expertise in SQL (optimization, indexing, stored procedures).
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Data Factory, OneLake, Lakehouse, Warehouse, Synapse, Dataflows).
• Proficiency in Python for data processing, automation, and API integrations.
• Experience designing and consuming REST or SOAP APIs.
• Familiarity with data modeling techniques (star schema, dimensional modeling, data vault).
• Experience integrating data from CRM, ERP, ATS, or Finance systems.
• Working knowledge of Power BI for data visualization support.
• Strong understanding of data warehousing, governance, and security practices.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Microsoft Certified: Fabric Analytics Engineer Associate or relevant Microsoft/Azure certifications.
• Experience with the Azure ecosystem (Data Lake, Synapse, Functions, Logic Apps).
• Familiarity with CI/CD for data pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions).
• Experience with dbt (data build tool) or similar transformation frameworks.
• Knowledge of real-time data processing (Event Hubs, Kafka, or equivalent).
• Exposure to big data frameworks (Spark, Databricks).
• Familiarity with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
• Strong understanding of data privacy and compliance standards (GDPR, HIPAA, SOC2).
• Industry experience in staffing or workforce management is a plus.
