Firefighting Service Technician

Job Summary:
The Firefighting Service Technician is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, repair, and testing of various firefighting systems and equipment to ensure they meet safety standards and regulatory requirements. This role involves hands-on technical work in both workshop and field settings, ensuring all firefighting systems are reliable, functional, and compliant.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment Servicing & Maintenance:
- Inspect, test, service, and refill fire extinguishers, fire hoses, fire alarms, sprinkler systems, and other firefighting equipment.
- Perform hydrostatic testing, recharging, and pressure testing of portable and fixed firefighting systems.
- Conduct on-site servicing and preventive maintenance in vessels, buildings, and industrial sites.
- Assist in installation, troubleshooting, and commissioning of firefighting systems and suppression units.
Compliance & Documentation:
- Ensure all work performed complies with SOLAS, IMO, NFPA, and local BFP standards.
- Record inspection results, maintenance reports, and equipment tags accurately.
- Prepare service reports and submit documentation to the Operations or QA Department.
Coordination & Safety:
- Work closely with other technicians and supervisors to ensure efficient service operations.
- Follow safety protocols and use proper personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the workshop and tools.
Customer Support:
- Provide technical assistance and service updates to clients when required.
- Represent the company professionally during on-site operations and inspections.
Qualifications:
- Technical or vocational course graduate (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field).
- With experience in firefighting equipment servicing or related technical field is an advantage.
- Knowledge of firefighting systems, refilling processes, and safety standards preferred.
- Physically fit and able to work in different environments (onboard vessels, industrial sites, etc.).
- Willing to travel and work extended hours when necessary.
