Position Overview
The Junior Veterinarian plays a key role in supporting the clinic's medical services and promoting overall pet wellness. This position includes conducting routine checkups, administering preventive care, assisting in diagnostics and surgeries, and ensuring proper documentation of all procedures. The role requires clear communication with pet owners, collaboration with the veterinary team, and consistent adherence to clinic protocols. Continuous learning through trainings, seminars, and case reviews is also expected to further develop clinical capabilities.
Primary ResponsibilitiesA. Clinical Responsibilities
- Perform general physical exams, wellness checks, and preventive assessments for companion animals, ensuring findings are well-documented.
- Administer vaccines, dewormers, and other preventive treatments in line with clinic guidelines.
- Assist with diagnostic tests—such as CBC, chem panels, urinalysis, fecal exams, X-rays, ultrasounds, and rapid tests—and ensure results are logged in Kreloses and reported to the supervising vet.
- Give oral and injectable medications (antibiotics, anti-inflammatory drugs, vitamins, etc.) while following proper dosing and aseptic protocols.
- Work alongside Senior Veterinarians during surgeries by preparing patients, monitoring anesthesia, handling instruments, and supporting post-surgical care.
- Safely restrain and handle animals for exams, treatments, and procedures while prioritizing staff and patient safety.
- Keep exam rooms, treatment areas, and surgical suites clean, organized, and ready for use.
- Follow clinic sanitation and animal welfare standards at all times.
B. Client Communication & Education
- Explain diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive care clearly to pet owners, ensuring they understand recommended follow-up care.
- Educate clients about responsible pet ownership—nutrition, vaccines, parasite control, and hygiene.
- Address concerns and questions with courtesy, empathy, and professionalism.
- Encourage clients to proceed with recommended diagnostics, treatments, and follow-up visits to support positive health outcomes.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold the clinic's professional image.
C. Billing & Medical Records
- Record all procedures, diagnostics, supplies, and medications in Kreloses to ensure accurate billing.
- Maintain complete and updated patient medical records, documenting all treatments and observations.
- Review records before and after consultations to ensure accuracy.
- Coordinate with the front desk and billing team to verify that charges are correctly entered and communicated to clients.
D. Team Support & Collaboration
- Work closely with Senior Veterinarians, Assistants, and Receptionists to maintain smooth daily operations.
- Provide guidance to interns or junior staff on safe handling techniques and basic veterinary tasks.
- Participate in briefings, case discussions, and daily coordination meetings.
- Help promote a cooperative and respectful work environment focused on growth and teamwork.
E. Professional Development
- Stay updated on current veterinary practices by joining approved seminars, webinars, and training programs.
- Enhance clinical knowledge by reviewing cases, reading veterinary references, and observing advanced procedures.
- Welcome feedback and mentorship from Senior Veterinarians to improve clinical judgment and efficiency.
- Represent the clinic professionally during training events or community programs.
Qualifications
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) graduate from a recognized institution.
- Licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the Philippines.
- Open to fresh graduates and veterinarians with up to 2 years of experience.
- Strong interest in animal care and professional growth.
