About the role

LEC STEEL MANUFACTURING CORP.' is seeking a talented Cost Engineer to join our team. As a Cost Engineer, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial viability and profitability of our steel manufacturing operations. This full-time position will involve managing project costs, identifying cost-saving opportunities, and providing strategic financial guidance to support the company's growth and expansion.

What you'll be doing

  1. Develop and maintain detailed cost estimates for steel manufacturing projects
  2. Analyse project costs and identify areas for cost reduction and optimisation
  3. Collaborate with project managers, procurement, and operations teams to ensure effective cost control
  4. Prepare and present financial reports, highlighting cost trends and variances
  5. Provide expert advice on contract negotiations, pricing strategies, and budgeting
  6. Implement and maintain cost-tracking systems to monitor project performance
  7. Identify and evaluate potential cost-saving initiatives, such as process improvements and supplier negotiations
  8. Support the development of long-term cost forecasting and strategic planning

What we're looking for

  1. Bachelor's degree in Civil/Structural Engineering or a related field
  2. Minimum 6 months of experience as a Cost Engineer or in a similar role within the steel manufacturing or construction industry
  3. Proficient in cost estimation, budgeting, and financial analysis
  4. Strong understanding of steel manufacturing processes, project management, and contract management
  5. Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and critical-thinking skills
  6. Proficiency in using cost-tracking software and data analysis tools
  7. Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams
  8. Excellent communication and presentation skills
