We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Cloud Migration Engineer to lead the transition of our existing .NET application and MS SQL database from on-premise Windows VMs to a modern, containerized environment on Amazon Web Services (AWS). The ideal candidate will have deep experience across both Windows and Linux ecosystems, strong expertise in containerization, and a proven history of successfully migrating legacy applications to the cloud.

Responsibilities

Migration Strategy & Planning

  • Evaluate the current .NET application and MS SQL infrastructure to determine the optimal migration approach.
  • Develop a comprehensive migration plan, including timelines, resource allocations, and risk mitigation steps.
  • Collaborate closely with development and operations teams to ensure a seamless migration with minimal downtime.

Application Containerization

  • Refactor the .NET application for Docker, which may include upgrading from .NET Framework to modern .NET for Linux container support.
  • Build, manage, and maintain container images in Amazon ECR.
  • Deploy and orchestrate containers using AWS ECS or EKS.

Database Migration

  • Plan and execute the migration of the MS SQL database to Amazon RDS for PostgreSQL.
  • Use tools such as AWS DMS for schema and data conversion from SQL Server to PostgreSQL.
  • Maintain data integrity and consistency throughout the migration.
  • Configure and optimize PostgreSQL for performance, reliability, and high availability.

CI/CD and Automation

  • Design and implement automated CI/CD pipelines using AWS CodePipeline, CodeBuild, and CodeDeploy.
  • Automate infrastructure provisioning with CloudFormation or Terraform.
  • Develop scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) to streamline cloud operations and repetitive tasks.

Cloud Infrastructure & Operations

  • Architect a scalable, secure, and highly available AWS environment, including VPCs, security groups, and load balancers.
  • Monitor system and database performance with CloudWatch and troubleshoot issues as they arise.
  • Enforce security best practices and ensure adherence to organizational compliance standards.

Requirements

Experience

  • At least 2 years of experience in DevOps, Cloud Engineering, or a related field.
  • Demonstrated success in full lifecycle cloud migrations to AWS.
  • Hands-on experience modernizing and migrating .NET applications.
  • Strong background in database migration, specifically from MS SQL to PostgreSQL or other open-source databases.

Technical Skills

  • AWS: Expertise with VPC, EC2, ECS/EKS, ECR, RDS, DMS, IAM, CloudWatch, and IaC tools (CloudFormation/Terraform).
  • Containerization: Proficiency in Docker and orchestration platforms such as ECS or Kubernetes.
  • CI/CD: Experience building and maintaining automated deployment pipelines.
  • Programming & Scripting: Solid C#/.NET skills and proficiency in scripting languages like Python or PowerShell.
  • Databases: Strong understanding of relational databases, schema/data migration, and performance tuning for both MS SQL and PostgreSQL.

Soft Skills

  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Proactive, self-driven, and capable of owning projects end-to-end.
