1. Job Summary

The Cinema Cashier is responsible for providing excellent customer service through efficient ticket selling, accurate cash handling, and assisting patrons with movie schedules, seat selection, and cinema-related inquiries. The role ensures fast and friendly service while maintaining SM Cinema's standards for accuracy, professionalism, and customer satisfaction.


2. Key Duties & Responsibilities
A. Ticketing & Customer Service
  • Sell movie tickets and/or snack bar products using the POS system.
  • Provide movie schedules, seat availability, and cinema promotions to customers.
  • Assist customers with seat selection, booking issues, or membership/loyalty inquiries.
  • Resolve minor customer concerns and escalate issues to the Cinema Supervisor when needed.
B. Cash Handling
  • Receive payments (cash, cards, digital payments) accurately and securely.
  • Issue official receipts, tickets, or vouchers.
  • Balance cash drawer at the start and end of every shift.
  • Ensure compliance with SM Cinema's cash management procedures.
C. Operations Support
  • Monitor ticket booth supplies and request replenishment when necessary.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the ticket counter and lobby area.
  • Support crowd management during peak hours, special events, or premiere screenings.
  • Coordinate with ushers and cinema operations team for seamless service.
D. Compliance & Reporting
  • Follow SM Supermalls' policies on safety, security, grooming, and customer handling.
  • Protect customer data and follow confidentiality rules.
  • Submit daily sales reports and discrepancy logs to the Cinema Supervisor.

JOB SPECIFICATION: CINEMA CASHIER
1. Education
  • At least Senior High School graduate
  • Preferred: Vocational/College level in Business, Hospitality, Tourism, or related fields.
2. Experience
  • Preferred but not required:

  • 6 months experience in cashiering, retail, fast food, cinema operations, or any customer-facing role.

  • Fresh graduates are welcome to apply.
3. Knowledge & Skills Required
  • Basic math skills and understanding of cash handling.
  • Knowledge of POS systems (training provided by SM).
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to multitask efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Basic troubleshooting for tickets, scanning devices, and cinema system errors.
4. Personal Qualities
  • Pleasant, approachable, and customer-friendly attitude.
  • Honest, trustworthy, and detail-oriented.
  • Able to work under pressure and remain calm during peak hours.
  • Team player with a positive work ethic.
  • Good grooming and professional appearance (per SM standards).
5. Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand for long hours.
  • Good eyesight for reading screens and printed tickets.
  • Ability to handle light lifting (e.g., ticket rolls, supplies).
6. Work Schedule
  • Willing to work on shifting schedules, weekends, and holidays.
  • Flexible to be assigned in any ticket booth or cinema station as needed.
