Job Title: Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Deputy COO)

Department: Executive Management

Reports To: Chief Operating Officer (COO) / Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

Job Summary:

The Deputy Chief Operating Officer (Deputy COO) supports the COO in managing the organization's daily operations and ensuring that business strategies, plans, and procedures are effectively implemented. The role provides leadership across multiple departments, drives operational efficiency, and ensures alignment with the company's strategic goals. The Deputy COO serves as the COO's principal advisor and assumes operational leadership responsibilities in their absence.

Key Responsibilities:

Operational Management

Oversee daily operations across departments to ensure efficiency, productivity, and high-quality outcomes.

Monitor and evaluate operational performance through KPIs and metrics.

Identify opportunities for process improvement and implement best practices.

Strategic Planning & Execution

Collaborate with the COO and executive team to develop and implement business strategies.

Translate strategic objectives into actionable operational plans.

Lead critical projects and ensure they are delivered on time and within budget.

Financial & Resource Oversight

Support financial planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.

Monitor operating costs and ensure cost-effectiveness without compromising quality.

Work closely with Finance, HR, and other key functions to align resources with business needs.

Leadership & Team Development

Provide guidance and support to department heads and managers.

Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Mentor emerging leaders and ensure succession planning.

Governance & Compliance

Ensure that operations comply with company policies, industry regulations, and legal standards.

Assist with audits, risk management, and compliance reporting.

Establish systems to monitor and enforce operational controls.

Stakeholder Engagement

Represent the COO in internal and external meetings when required.

Serve as a communication bridge between senior leadership and operational teams.

Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, partners, and vendors.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Management, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).

8–10 years of senior management or operations leadership experience.

Proven track record in operational strategy, project management, and team leadership.

Strong financial acumen and problem-solving skills.

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to adapt to a fast-paced and dynamic business environment.
