Key Responsibilities:

  • Must stay informed about current market trends, consumer behaviors, and competitor activities to identify opportunities and challenges for their assigned category.
  • Develop and implement long-term strategies for their product categories, including product selection, pricing, promotion, and merchandising.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors, negotiating contracts, securing favorable terms, and ensuring product availability and quality.
  • Responsible for optimizing the product range within their category, ensuring it meets customer needs and maximizes profitability.
  • Develop and implement pricing strategies and promotional plans to drive sales and increase market share.
  • Work closely with various departments, including marketing, sales, supply chain, and finance, to ensure alignment and effective execution of category strategies.
  • Regularly monitor category performance, analyze sales data, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Play a role in managing inventory levels to ensure product availability and minimize waste.
  • Identify and resolve issues related to their category, such as supply chain disruptions or product performance problems.
  • Effectively communicate category strategies and performance to internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Needs to be able to develop and implement long-term strategies.
  • Effective negotiation skills are crucial for securing favorable terms with vendors.
  • Strong communication skills are essential for interacting with various stakeholders, including vendors, internal teams, and customers.
  • Often lead cross-functional teams, requiring strong leadership skills.
  • Needs to be able to identify and resolve problems effectively.
  • A strong understanding of the products within their category is essential.
  • Needs to be knowledgeable about the industry and consumer trends.
  • Understanding financial metrics and profitability is important.
