The Cadet Engineer (Technician & Mechanical) will undergo structured training and assist in the technical maintenance and reliable operation of all mechanical, utility, and kitchen/café equipment within Auro's retail and café locations. This role is a stepping stone for new engineering graduates to gain practical experience in an industrial food-grade setting, focusing on both preventative maintenance and prompt corrective repair work.

Key Responsibilities

Maintenance & Repair:

  • Perform routine preventive maintenance (PM) checks on all café equipment, including but not limited to coffee machines, blenders, chillers, display cases, air conditioning units (HVAC), plumbing fixtures, and general mechanical systems.
  • Conduct timely corrective maintenance (CM) and troubleshooting for mechanical, electrical, and utility breakdowns in the café and retail areas.
  • Assist in the repair and replacement of faulty mechanical components, motors, pumps, and other essential parts.
  • Support facilities maintenance tasks, ensuring the physical structure and aesthetic of the café are maintained to Auro's high standards.

Technical Support & Projects:

  • Assist the Maintenance/Engineering team in the installation, commissioning, and testing of new café equipment and systems.
  • Learn to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics for effective troubleshooting and repair.
  • Participate in improvement projects aimed at optimizing equipment efficiency, reducing utility consumption, and minimizing downtime.

Documentation & Safety:

  • Accurately document all maintenance activities, including PM checklists, work orders, parts usage, and equipment condition reports.
  • Ensure strict compliance with all company safety protocols, food safety (HACCP/GMP), and local environmental regulations.
  • Assist in maintaining a systematic inventory of spare parts and tools for quick access and efficient operations.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area at all times.

Learning & Development:

  • Actively participate in the Cadet Engineer training program and seek opportunities for continuous technical skill enhancement.
  • Coordinate and effectively communicate with the café operations team to minimize disruption during maintenance work.
