Bar Captain Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Bar Captain is responsible for supervising the day-to-day operations of the bar, ensuring high standards of customer service, and leading the bar team effectively. This role involves overseeing beverage preparation and service, maintaining inventory, upholding cleanliness and hygiene standards, and supporting the Bar Manager in administrative and operational tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

· Supervise and lead bar staff during shifts, ensuring smooth operation and excellent customer service.

· Monitor bar performance, ensuring consistency in drink quality, presentation, and speed of service.

· Handle guest complaints professionally and promptly, ensuring customer satisfaction.

· Assist in training, coaching, and evaluating new and existing bar team members.

· Manage inventory levels: perform regular stock checks, report shortages, and assist with ordering supplies.

· Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, ensuring compliance with hygiene, health, and safety regulations.

· Coordinate with the kitchen, floor staff, and management to ensure seamless service.

· Promote and upselling beverages and specials to guests.

· Assist with creating bar menus, cocktail recipes, and seasonal beverage promotions.

· Ensure proper cash handling, POS operation, and daily sales reconciliation.

· Always maintain a professional and welcoming atmosphere.

Requirements:

· Proven experience as a Bartender, preferably with supervisory responsibilities.

· Knowledge of mixology, beverage trends, and bar equipment.

· Strong leadership and communication skills.

· Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.

· Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills.

· Basic understanding of stock control and cash handling procedures.

· Flexibility to work nights, weekends, and holidays as required.

Preferred Skills:

· Certification for Bartending Association is an advantage.

· Experience with bar POS systems.

· Can communicate proficiently
