Position Overview

The Underwriting Assistant supports the underwriting team by efficiently processing new business, renewals and mid-term adjustments, managing documentation, and ensuring smooth day-to-day workflow across the portfolio. This role requires accuracy, strong attention to detail, excellent organization skills and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities:

Underwriting Processing & Support

  • Process new business, renewal and endorsement transactions, including preparing schedules, certificates and supporting documentation.
  • Review submissions to ensure all required information is complete before passing to the underwriting team.
  • Upload, organize and maintain underwriting files in line with Tego standards.
  • Monitor and manage shared mailboxes, ensuring tasks are prioritized and allocated promptly.
  • Prepare quote packs, renewal summaries and follow-up documentation as required.

Administration & Workflow Management

  • Handle data entry, document preparation and accurate system updates across all underwriting activities.
  • Maintain organized digital records, ensuring all documentation is filed correctly and consistently.
  • Coordinate with the underwriting team to ensure timely turnaround of submissions and renewals.
  • Assist with general administrative tasks across the underwriting function.

Reporting & Finance Support

  • Assist with monthly reporting by collating data and preparing required spreadsheets or summaries.
  • Support premium reconciliation tasks, including matching payments, identifying variances and preparing supporting documentation for finance.
  • Prepare bordereaux and insurer payment reports accurately and on schedule.

Compliance & Process Improvement

  • Ensure all tasks follow internal policies, underwriting guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Identify process gaps and suggest improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across the workflow.

Other Duties

  • Perform additional administrative or support tasks as requested to assist the underwriting and operations teams

About the Candidate

  • Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
  • Preferably with experience in insurance underwriting or related roles
  • Highly detail-oriented and organized
  • Proactive, with strong initiative and problem-solving mindset
