Senior Consultant – GHG Accounting

The Senior Consultant for Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Accounting plays a vital role in advancing clients' sustainability initiatives and enhancing the organization's reputation by leading projects focused on emissions accounting and ensuring the accurate preparation and analysis of GHG accounts. This role involves taking ownership of specific tasks within projects and delivering high-quality outputs related to GHG accounting. The consultant will lead the preparation and processing of comprehensive data, and the calculation of Scope 1, 2 and 3 GHG emissions for organizations, while ensuring integrity and accuracy in accordance with the GHG Protocol or ISO The role also supports the development of comprehensive Net Zero strategies for organizations and emission reduction projects, and other technical or administrative tasks arising from projects related to corporate carbon management. Additionally, the Senior Consultant provides training and mentorship to junior team members, enhancing their expertise and effectiveness. The role requires identifying opportunities for process improvement within GHG accounting and reporting to enhance operational efficiency and accuracy, while collaborating with team members to refine data processing techniques and optimize practices. Effective communication of complex concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders is essential, along with supporting client engagements by delivering clear, accurate, and actionable insights related to GHG emissions.

This is a delivery and project management position that requires collaboration with internal and external stakeholders, including global Anthesis sustainability experts and technical consultants, to support major project delivery and innovate new solutions for clients' sustainability journeys. It engages in technical research, quality assurance, and contributes to proposal writing, ensuring best practices are followed while managing multiple projects with minimal supervision. Additionally, Senior Consultants are expected to be capable of counseling, training, and overseeing the work of juniors under them. Continuous learning and professional development are integral to this role, as the senior consultant stays updated on industry trends, standards and methodologies to adopt the most effective and accurate approaches in GHG accounting and reporting, helping organizations in carrying out a successful GHG management program.

Project Management and Delivery

• Take ownership of specific tasks within projects, delivering high-quality outputs, particularly in the preparation and analysis of GHG inventories.
• Lead projects focused on emissions accounting applying specialized knowledge to meet the client requirements and supervise the deliverables of the junior members
• Participate in other projects related to corporate carbon management, including but not limited to development of Net Zero plans and emission reduction targets by reviewing GHG emissions data and calculating targets.
• Support projects related to climate risks and ESG reporting and disclosure.
• Collaborate and support in other technical or administrative tasks

GHG Accounting and Data Processing

• Efficiently lead and deliver projects related to GHG accounting in accordance with the GHG Protocol, ISO 14064 and/or other GHG reporting standards
• Handle comprehensive data processing tasks and calculate scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, including accounting for value chain emissions using different approaches, Ensure the integrity and accuracy of all GHG calculations and reports, maintaining a high standard of quality in GHG accounting and reporting.
• Develop reports according to existing standards and programs (GHG protocol, ISO 14064, TCR, CDP)

Training and Development

• Provide training and mentorship to new and/or junior consultants, ensuring they develop the necessary expertise to contribute effectively to the team.
• Continuously enhance personal expertise in GHG accounting and other climate-related topics to support ongoing professional development and team knowledge growth.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify opportunities for process improvement within GHG accounting and reporting, contributing to the enhancement of operational efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate with the team to refine and optimize data processing techniques, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy and efficiency in GHG accounting.

Stakeholder Management

• Effectively communicate complex GHG accounting concepts to both technical and nontechnical stakeholders, ensuring clarity and understanding across all levels of the organization.
• Support client engagements by providing clear, accurate, and actionable insights related to GHG emissions
