Their responsibilities range from designing and overseeing production processes for extraction, refinement, and fabrication, to conducting quality assurance and performing technical analyses. They analyze material failures, operate specialized equipment, ensure safety and environmental compliance, and collaborate with other teams to improve production efficiency and meet project goals.

Key responsibilities

• Material development and testing: Research, analyze, and test metals and alloys to improve their properties and performance.
• Process design and management: Design, implement, and oversee processes for metal extraction, refinement, production, and fabrication.
• Quality assurance: Develop and enforce quality control standards, conduct material testing, and ensure compliance with regulations like ISO 9001.
• Troubleshooting and analysis: Investigate material failures and process issues, analyze data, and implement solutions to improve efficiency and reliability.
• Technical support: Provide technical expertise to other departments, operate specialized equipment like spectrographs and microscopes, and train junior staff.
• Project collaboration: Work with other engineers and project managers to develop project budgets and schedules, identify development opportunities, and ensure projects adhere to specifications.
• Safety and sustainability: Ensure operations comply with all safety and environmental procedures and develop sustainable practices to reduce waste.
