Role Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Senior Oracle DBA to lead the administration, optimization, and security of our Oracle database landscape, including mission-critical systems supporting enterprise applications like SAP. This role requires deep Oracle expertise, along with exposure to SAP Basis-related database administration to support SAP environments running on Oracle.

The ideal candidate brings a strong background in Oracle database technologies, high availability architecture, and hands-on experience with SAP-Oracle integration or collaboration with SAP Basis teams.

Key Responsibilities:

• Administer, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot multiple Oracle databases (11g, 12c, 19c, 21c) in production, development, and QA environments.
• Perform installations, upgrades, patching, and migrations (including platform and cross-version migrations).
• Optimize database performance using AWR, ASH, OEM, and advanced tuning techniques.
• Manage high availability and disaster recovery configurations using Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and GoldenGate.
• Implement and test robust backup/recovery strategies using RMAN and/or third-party tools.
• Automate administrative tasks and reporting using shell scripting, PL/SQL, or Python.
• Collaborate with SAP Basis team to support SAP systems using Oracle, including performance tuning and backup coordination.
• Ensure database compliance with security, audit, and regulatory standards (SOX, ISO, etc.).
• Participate in capacity planning, infrastructure scaling, and cloud database strategy (OCI, AWS RDS, etc.).
• Lead database initiatives such as cloud adoption, consolidation, and disaster recovery planning.
• Provide 24x7 support for critical systems and assist in root cause analysis for database-related incidents.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
• 6+ years of experience as an Oracle DBA in large-scale, enterprise-grade environments.
• Strong hands-on expertise in:
• Oracle RAC, ASM, Data Guard, and RMAN
• Performance tuning (SQL, instance-level)
• Backup/recovery and storage management
• Oracle Enterprise Manager (OEM) for monitoring and diagnostics
• Solid understanding of Linux/Unix environments, scripting, and automation.
• Experience in both on-prem and cloud-based Oracle DB setups.

Desirable / Preferred Qualifications:

• SAP environment experience:
• Familiarity with SAP systems using Oracle (ECC, BW, PI, etc.)
• Working knowledge of how Oracle integrates with SAP NetWeaver architecture
• Ability to support SAP Basis teams in database-related operations (e.g., BR*Tools usage, SAP kernel patches, SAP database schema structure)
• Experience supporting SAP upgrades and migrations involving Oracle.
• Oracle Certified Professional (OCP) certification.
• Experience with Oracle on OCI / AWS RDS / Azure.
• Knowledge of PostgreSQL, MySQL, or other RDBMS platforms.
• Exposure to DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines involving DB deployments.

Soft Skills:

• Strong troubleshooting and root cause analysis capabilities.
• Effective communication and ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams (SAP, Infra, Apps, Security).
• Leadership experience in database projects and mentorship of junior DBAs.
• Proactive, process-oriented mindset with strong documentation habits.
• Availability for on-call and off-hours support during maintenance windows or go-lives.
