Line Cook

Responsibilities

• Preparing food for service, ensuring quality and presentation standards are met.
• Adhere strictly to the cleanliness of the kitchen area as well as equipment and machines.
• Prepare, cook and serve food delegated as your responsibility, ensuring that the highest possible quality is maintained and that agreed standards for food preparation and presentation are met at all times under guidance from a senior chef.
• Maintaining a clean and organized work station.
• Assist in food preparation and presentation.
• Monitor stock movement and be responsible for ordering on your section.
• Ensure the kitchen and food areas are clean and safe.
• Aid in achieving food cost, kitchen standard and overall objectives.
• Assist with the acceptance and storage of deliveries and that all relevant company procedures are adhered to.
• Assist on other sections or help with other duties when the kitchen is short staffed, or in emergencies.
• Follow all safety and sanitation procedures.
• Other tasks that may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications

• Diploma in Culinary or Food Technology is required.
• At least a year of experience in a restaurant setting.
• Excellent understanding of various cooking methods, ingredients, equipment, and procedures.
• Able to work in a fast-paced environment with speed and quality.
• Great personal hygiene and grooming standards.
