DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESChecks patient(s) requests and receipt(s) before any laboratory test is performed. Collects and prepares specimens for analysis. Examines, processes, and analyzes blood, urine, stool, body fluids, and other specimens.

Ensures proper labeling, handling, and collection of specimens. Assumes responsibility for all laboratory sections during his/her shift. Records, releases, and signs out laboratory results.

Charges for laboratory tests conducted on admitted patients. Performs quality control procedures. Maintains cleanliness of the work area.

Maintains inventory of equipment and supplies, and records it. Refers problematic cases or situations to the head of the laboratory. Prepares blood inventory reports.

Responsible for blood collection within the laboratory and hospital premises, including wards, private rooms, delivery, and emergency rooms. Ensures pre-extraction orders are followed (e.g., fasting). Explains procedures to patients and prepares them to reduce tension; positions patients properly.

Follows proper blood collection methods. Disposes of contaminated materials like needles, syringes, and cotton in designated containers. Observes waste management and disposal protocols.

In charge of requisitioning reagents and equipment from the Purchasing Officer. Refers conflicts or decision-making issues to the head of the laboratory. Assists in evaluating and procuring laboratory equipment; makes product recommendations and drafts schedules for demos and reagents.

Reports concerns in the laboratory to the Pathologist, Chief Medical Technologist, or Section Head. Oversees procurement, usage, and inventory of reagents and supplies. Prepares reagent consumption reports and requisitions.

Ensures proper handover to staff before and after shifts. KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLSEducation:Must be a BS Medical Technology graduate from a reputable school with PRC license.
