Network Engineer

About the Role

The Network Engineer will be in charge of administering and maintaining the organization's network infrastructure. This position involves assuring network stability, performance, and security, as well as supporting network-related projects and operations. The suitable candidate will be highly technical in Huawei and Fortinet networking/security technology, with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and optimization.

Job Description:

• Design, configure, and manage network infrastructure, including routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless solutions.
• Implement and maintain network policies, standards, and configurations to ensure security, performance, and compliance.
• Conduct regular network performance monitoring and tuning.
• Diagnose and resolve network-related issues, including connectivity, latency, and hardware problems.
• Manage network incidents and respond promptly to escalated issues to minimize downtime.
• Conduct root cause analysis on major network outages and implement corrective actions.
• Plan and execute network upgrades, expansions, and optimization projects.
• Collaborate with 3rd party support and engineers to stay current with the latest firmware updates and technology advancements.
• Perform capacity planning and monitor network traffic to identify areas for improvement.
• Maintain accurate documentation of network configurations, procedures, and issue resolutions.
• Generate regular reports on network performance, incidents, and maintenance activities for internal stakeholders.
• Keep up-to-date inventory records of all network equipment.
• Implement network security measures to protect data integrity, confidentiality, and availability.
• Monitor network security alerts and respond to potential threats or vulnerabilities.
• Perform regular security audits and ensure compliance with company and industry standards.
• Work closely with IT teams and other departments to support business objectives.
• Provide technical guidance and training to junior network administrators and IT staff.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Minimum 3-5 years of hands-on experience as a Network Administrator, with at least 2 years managing Huawei/Cisco network equipment.
• Proficiency in Huawei/Fortinet network and security hardware (routers, switches, firewalls) and software solutions. Strong understanding of network protocols (TCP/IP, OSPF, BGP, MPLS, VLANs, VPNs).
• Experience with network monitoring and analysis tools (e.g., Huawei eSight, SolarWinds, Wireshark). Strong problem-solving, analytical, and multitasking abilities; excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Commitment to excellence and high standards; strong organizational skills; able to manage time, priorities, and workload; provide documentation and accountability.
