Job Summary

The Tax Preparer Accounting VA is responsible for supporting our U.S.-based clients in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations while providing strategic guidance and high-quality service. This role requires a combination of strong technical knowledge, project management skills, and client-facing abilities. The Tax Preparer will work closely with managers and partners to ensure high-quality service delivery and compliance with federal, state, local, and international tax regulations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and lead tax engagements for corporate, partnership, and individual clients.
  • Prepare, review, and file federal, state, and local tax returns
  • Research tax issues and provide practical, client-focused solutions
  • Communicate complex tax matters clearly to clients and internal teams
  • Assist with tax planning strategies, including entity structures and transactions
  • Stay up-to-date with U.S. tax regulations and industry trends
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes, efficiency, and quality
  • Handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced, remote environment

Workflow & Tools:

  • Client management software: Canopy
  • Tax software: UltraTax (preferred), GoSystem, OneSource
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) & Zoom

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • 2–4 years of public accounting experience in tax.
  • Strong technical knowledge of U.S. federal, state, and local tax laws.
  • Experience with corporate, partnership, or international tax engagements preferred.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to interact effectively with clients.
  • Proficiency in tax software (UltraTax preferred, GoSystem, OneSource) and secure file-sharing platforms.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience supporting tax professionals or working in a tax/accounting department.
  • Familiarity with CRMs and workflow management tools (Karbon, Jetpack Workflow, Salesforce, HubSpot, or similar).

Work Setup & Benefits:

  • Full-Time Schedule: 9-hour shift with 1-hour break
  • Permanent work-from-home setup
  • HMO upon regularization
  • Bi-weekly Pay (Every other Friday)
