Role Overview:

The Data Management Officer is responsible for ensuring the cleanliness, consistency, and

reliability of data used across the organization. This role is not responsible for creating

reports, but plays a key supporting role by preparing clean, structured datasets and

investigating data issues. The officer also helps document table architecture to assist

developers and analysts in understanding data relationships and usage.

Key Responsibilities:

 Perform data quality audits to detect duplicates, errors, or inconsistencies in key

datasets

 Clean and transform data using SQL and Python (pandas, regex, etc.)

 Use Fuzzy Lookup and other approximate matching techniques to reconcile data

 Support Data Analysts by preparing clean, analysis-ready tables

 Investigate root causes of discrepancies flagged in reports or dashboards

 Maintain flat table formats and enforce data naming/structure standards

 Coordinate with third-party data cleaners and ensure their outputs meet internal

standards

 Create and maintain documentation for:

  • Table architecture (schemas, key fields, source descriptions)

  • Merge/join keys and how tables relate to each other

  • Intended use, refresh logic, and data lineage for each table

 Enforce internal data governance rules and ensure compliance across teams

 Track and maintain records of analytics-related tasks, report requests, and cleanup

activities across the team

 Serve as the central point of coordination for analytics operations and workflow

management

 Help facilitate alignments/meetings to review priorities, monitor progress, address

blockers, and align deliverables across the data team

Qualifications:

 Proficient in SQL for querying, validating, and restructuring data

 Skilled in Python (especially pandas and basic scripting) for bulk cleaning and

transformation

 Familiar with fuzzy matching techniques using Fuzzy Lookup (Excel) or

fuzzywuzzy/RapidFuzz (Python)

 Understanding of data architecture, including primary keys, foreign keys, and table

relationships

 Experience in writing clear and structured data dictionaries or technical table guides

 Knowledge of data quality dimensions (accuracy, completeness, consistency, timeliness,

uniqueness)

 Able to work with flat tables for pivoting and analysis

 Proficient in Excel and Google Sheets for manual validation and light cleanup

 Excellent attention to detail with strong debugging and documentation skills
