An IT Specialist in Manufacturing supports the plant's tech infrastructure, focusing on production systems, SCADA, ERP, and shop floor equipment alongside standard IT duties like user support, security, and network management, ensuring smooth, efficient, and secure operations for production continuity. Key duties involve maintaining specialized manufacturing software, troubleshooting production line hardware (PLCs, HMIs), managing data flow, and collaborating with engineering for process improvements

Key Responsibilities

Production Systems Support: Install, configure, and maintain manufacturing execution systems (MES), SCADA, PLCs, ERP, and other operational technology (OT) software.

End-User Support (Shop Floor): Provide technical assistance to operators and staff for hardware (PCs, scanners, printers, tablets) and software issues on the production floor.

Network & Security: Secure the plant network, manage firewalls, user access, and ensure data privacy for sensitive production data.

Hardware Maintenance: Install, repair, and upgrade IT hardware, including servers, workstations, and specialized shop floor devices.

Data Management: Oversee data backups, system monitoring, and ensure integrity of information for quality control and reporting.

Process Improvement: Work with engineering to analyze system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement IT solutions to reduce costs, waste, and cycle times.

Documentation & Compliance: Maintain technical documentation and ensure IT systems meet industry standards and company policies.

Essential Skills & Qualifications

Strong knowledge of Windows/Linux, networking protocols (TCP/IP), virtualization, Active Directory.

Familiarity with SQL databases and ERP/MES systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle).

Problem-solving, communication, and time management skills.

Certifications (CompTIA A+, Network+, Security+, Microsoft) are often beneficial.
