Organizational Setting and Reporting Relationship
The position of Associate Investment Officer is assigned in the Social Sectors Team (SST) under the Office of the Director General (OPSD) within the Private Sector Operations Department (PSOD). You will be based at our Headquarters in Manila, Philippines.
You will report to the designated Technical international Staff and Senior Officer, as applicable.
Your Role
As an Associate Investment Officer, you will provide technical support and coordination for private sector investments in the health and education sectors, up to financial closing of projects.
You Will
- Project Processing
- Assist and participate in identifying, developing and processing financing opportunities in the health and education sectors, undertaking business development, due diligence, risk analysis and mitigation work for the structuring and negotiation of loans, equity investment, guarantees or other forms of financial assistance.
- Contribute to credit and financial due diligence by helping develop financial models and assessing the risk and credit profile of proposed investments.
- Review and analyze financial statements and projections, perform sensitivity analysis and stress testing, and provide necessary recommendations.
- Participate in due diligence missions and provide technical support and recommendations to project team.
- Undertake industry and country research for transaction risk assessment and provide recommendations to the project team.
- Prepare Investment Committee and Board memoranda, summaries of project documents, risk assessment analyses and other documents required in project processing.
- Engage with Risk Management and Safeguards Specialists to address credit-related and environment and social safeguards-related issues.
- Prepare presentation materials.
- Maintain comprehensive credit files for transactions under processing.
- Strategy and Planning
- Contribute to the development of policy and strategies for ADB's private sector developmental goals in consultation with relevant stakeholders and assisting in developing a pipeline of private sector projects in the health and education sectors.

- Perform other duties that may be assigned and as reflected in the incumbent's workplan.
You Will Need
- Bachelor's degree in economics, finance, business administration or a field related to development, preferably with advanced training.
- At least 5 years' work experience in corporate finance, investment banking or private equity, preferably on transactions in the health and/or education sectors.
- Experience undertaking research and analysis on difficult but well-defined tasks, collect and organize required data and information, apply appropriate IT skills in organizing and analyzing the data; and prepare notes, papers and sections of reports.
- Ability to comprehend causal links, make pros and cons analysis, and analyze factors to reach a decision.
- Familiarity with the use of Bloomberg databases.
- Ability to guide junior staff to facilitate work planning, delivery and quality review
- Ability to work with teams as a constructive team member.
- Proficiency in oral and written English for report-writing, project-related documents and presentation

This is a fixed-term appointment for an initial fixed period of 3 years. At the end of the initial period, this appointment may, at the option of ADB, be extended once for up to 2 years, converted to a regular appointment, or ended on its expiration date. This decision will be made in the overall interest of ADB that: (a) it will require Staff's particular blend of skills and experience in the foreseeable future; and (b) Staff's performance is satisfactory and they are suitable for further employment.
