Job Description

As a Collections Specialist, you will manage past due MCA accounts, reconnect with delinquent customers, negotiate repayment plans, address objections, and guide them back into good standing-all while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting strategic improvements in the collections process.

The Qualifications We Seek

• 3 to 5 years of experience
• Clear, fluent English with strong verbal communication skills
• Confident speaking with customers all day, including uncomfortable conversations
• Firm but empathetic approach to collections
• Ability to negotiate and guide customers toward a specific repayment action
• Organized, consistent with follow-up, and detail-oriented in documentation
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment

Your Daily Tasks

Outbound Collections and Payment Recovery

• Reach out to customers with past due balances through calls, texts, and email.
• Communicate the customer's contractual obligations and expected remittance behavior.
• Negotiate partial payments, weekly repayment arrangements, or settlements when appropriate.
• Help customers resume remittances if revenue has returned.

Identify Root Causes and Handle Objections

• Understand why a customer stopped paying and whether the issue is temporary or ongoing.
• Address misunderstandings about how MCAs work and clarify revenue-linked obligations.
• Use objection-handling techniques to guide customers toward resolution.

Reconnection and Account Support

• Assist customers in reconnecting bank accounts or updating payment information.
• Verify revenue and help customers get back on a consistent payment schedule.
• Provide clear steps needed to bring the account current.

Documentation and Compliance

• Log every call, commitment, partial payment, and customer communication in the CRM.
• Maintain clean and accurate notes for leadership review or escalation.
• Follow internal procedures and state-level rules for commercial collections.

Collaboration and Escalation

• Coordinate with the servicing and underwriting teams on account concerns.
• Notify leadership of accounts needing settlement review or third-party collections.
• Provide insights on recurring issues to improve collections strategy.
