Accounting Associate

Job Summary:
The Accounting Associate will be responsible for supporting the finance team throughout the full accounting cycle—from recording transactions to preparing financial reports—ensuring accuracy, compliance with Philippine Financial Reporting Standards (PFRS), and adherence to regulatory requirements. This role also includes performing treasury-related functions, such as managing cash/check/bank disbursements, maintaining banking relationships, and monitoring liquidity to support the company's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

General Accounting

• Perform the full cycle of accounting processes including journal entries, general ledger reconciliation, accruals, and adjustments

• Maintain accurate and timely recording of financial transactions in accordance with PFRS

• Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and internal reports

• Reconcile and monitor all balance sheet accounts, ensuring discrepancies are investigated and resolved

• Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes

• Support the preparation of audit schedules and respond to queries from external auditors

Accounts Payable and Receivable

• Validate and process invoices and expense reports in compliance with company policies

• Monitor aging reports and follow up on collections from customers and payments to vendors

• Reconcile supplier statements and resolve billing issues

Tax and Regulatory Compliance

• Assist in the preparation and filing of statutory tax returns (e.g., VAT, EWT, Income Tax, etc.) in compliance with BIR regulations

• Help ensure compliance with government regulatory requirements (e.g., BIR, SEC, SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG)

Treasury Functions

• Handle day-to-day cash disbursements including checks, online bank payments, and petty cash

• Monitor cash flow and prepare weekly cash position reports

• Coordinate and maintain relationships with banking institutions

• Ensure timely funding of disbursement accounts and validate bank charges and fees

• Safeguard company funds and monitor the integrity of financial transactions

Other Duties

• Support the Senior Finance Manager or Supervisor in financial planning, budgeting, and forecasting

• Assist in the implementation of process improvements and automation initiatives

• Maintain proper documentation and archiving of financial records

• Perform other related tasks as may be assigned from time to time

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in Accountancy/Accounting Technology/Management Accounting or any related business course; being a Certified Public Accountant is an advantage but not required

• With at least 1-3 years of audit/accounting/finance experience, preferably having worked in an accountancy firm, corporate and/or shared services environment with fundamental knowledge of accounting principles and financial reporting standards

• Practical knowledge of and experience with Philippine taxation and compliance is a plus; exposure to treasury/banking transactions is desirable

• Highly proficient with office productivity tools (MS Excel/Word/Outlook), enterprise accounting software (SAP, Oracle, Infor, Microsoft Dynamics 365)

• Aptitude for logical and analytical thinking; capable of thinking "outside the box" and providing innovative solutions while strictly adhering to company policies and standards

• Demonstrated ownership of tasks and responsibilities; can work independently and proactively (self-starter) and meet deadlines

• Proven track record in stakeholder management and negotiations; able to manage expectations of superiors and teammates and work effectively in a team environment

• Positive work attitude (can-do mindset) and able to deliver under pressure; can stay focused and organized despite competing demands

• Integrity and discretion in handling confidential financial information

• Must be fluent in written and spoken English. Mandarin/Cantonese fluency is a plus but not required.
