Position Mainframe Developer (Mid to Sr)

Shift schedule: 4pm 1am

Job Description:
  • To work on development in an application that operates on the z/os mainframe with a DB2 database backend.
  • Analyze existing system and create technical specifications as per business requirements.
  • Estimate, design and develop COBOL programs, JCL and DB2 stored procedures to implement the solution.
  • Work with DBA to integrate new database components and perform integration testing.
  • Analyze existing system and programming logic to provide more efficient machine operation.
  • Follow company software development processes and standards.
  • Keep up to date with new technology development and implementation.
  • Provide production support (e.g. critical business days, after hours, on call, etc.) between operations end users and the systems support team as well as conduct periodic application disaster recovery exercises.

Developer Attributes:
  • Strong analytical & mathematical skills.
  • Strong written & spoken communication skills. Must have excellent English.
  • A proven leader who has implemented new systems.
  • Enterprise COBOL, JCL, DB2 for z/OS, SQL, Change Man, IBM utilities and JOBTRAC.
  • DB2 SQL performance tuning.
  • Experience with any of the following would be a plus; Websphere MQ, Microsoft SQLServer, Denodo, Java, .Net.

  • Academic experience only.
  • Academic and some practical experience.
  • Competent user with well rounded knowledge and proven expertise in the desired skill.
  • The desired skills is a core expertise of the candidate. Can manage high complexity levels associated with the skill and has significant practical experience.
  • Recognized as a go to person for the required skillset. Ability to apply optimal solutions to tasks, proactively suggest and implement improvements and provide a best in class service.
