Responsibilities:

  • Develop and maintain relationships with government officials, elected representatives, and regulatory agencies to promote the organization's interests and objectives.
  • Monitor and analyze local, regional, national and international policies, legislation, regulations and political developments related to the organization's industry or sector.
  • Provide updates and recommendations to senior management on potential impacts and opportunities.
  • Develop and execute strategies to advocate for the organization's interests with government officials, including lobbying efforts, written and oral submissions, and participation in consultations and hearings.
  • Identify potential policy or regulatory issues that could impact the organization and develop proactive strategies to mitigate risks or optimize opportunities. Coordinate and collaborate with internal stakeholders to ensure a unified approach.
  • Develop and manage effective communication channels and relationships with government officials to ensure the organization's position and messaging effectively conveyed. Prepare briefing materials, reports, and presentations for government meetings or engagements.
  • Monitor and analyze political developments, elections, and public opinion trends in relevant jurisdictions to inform the organization's government affairs strategies. Participate in industry associations or policy groups to stay informed and influence policy debates.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and lobbying disclosure requirements related to government affairs activities.
  • Build and foster relationships with external stakeholders, including industry associations, trade groups, non-governmental organizations, and other external organizations to enhance the organization's reputation and influence.

Requirement:

  • Bachelor's degree in mass communication, Business Administration, Political Science, Public Policy, Law or any related field.
  • Proven experience in government relations, public relations, lobbying, or public affairs, preferably within the sector relevant to the organization.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative and regulatory processes, as well as an understanding of the political landscape.
  • Excellent communication skills, including written and oral presentation abilities. Experience in preparing written submissions, briefing materials, and reports.
  • Strong analytical and research skills, including the ability to effectively monitor and analyze policy and political developments.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with government officials, industry representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with the ability to develop and execute effective advocacy strategies.
  • Knowledge of compliance requirements for lobbying and government affairs activities.
  • Ability to work independently and within a team, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
